非道 [fei dao]—Non-path — [Term] Refers to evil conduct (邪行 [xie xing]) that deviates from the right path (正道 [zheng dao]).

The Vimalakirti Sutra, Chapter on the Buddha Path, says: "Manjushri asked Vimalakirti: 'How does a Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) attain thorough understanding of the Buddha Path (佛道 [fu dao])?' Vimalakirti replied: 'If a Bodhisattva practices the non-path, this is to attain thorough understanding of the Buddha Path. (ellipsis) [They] demonstrate acting with greed (貪欲 [tan yu]) yet are free from all defilements and attachments; demonstrate acting with anger (瞋恚 [chen hui]) yet have no anger or obstruction towards all beings; demonstrate acting with ignorance (愚痴 [yu chi]) yet subdue their mind with wisdom (智慧 [zhi hui]).'"

(zhōng lüè) shì xíng tān yù lí zhū rǎn zhe, shì xíng chēn huì yú zhū zhòng shēng wú yǒu huì ài, shì xíng yú chī ér yǐ zhì huì diào fú qí xīn.”

[shu yu] xie xing zhi wei zheng dao zhe. wei mo jing fu dao pin yue: "wen shu shi li wen wei mo jie yan: pu sa yun he tong da fu dao? wei mo jie yan: ruo pu sa xing yu fei dao, shi wei tong da fu dao. (zhong lue) shi xing tan yu li zhu ran zhe, shi xing chen hui yu zhu zhong sheng wu you hui ai, shi xing yu chi er yi zhi hui diao fu qi xin."
