法身觀 [fa shen guan]—Dharma-kāya meditation — [Term (術語 [shu yu])] The Dharma-kāya (法身 [fa shen]) established by various sects (宗家 [zong jia]) differs, and their methods of contemplation (觀法 [guan fa]) also vary. Here, we speak of the Dharma-kāya meditation of the Nature School (性宗 [xing zong]). The Essentials of Pure Land Rebirth (往生要集 [wang sheng yao ji]) quotes various sūtras to clarify the contemplation of the Buddha's Dharma-kāya, which involves contemplating the Tathagata (如來 [ru lai]) through the five aspects of equality (平等五相 [ping deng wu xiang]) of True Suchness (真如 [zhen ru]). The sixteen-foot Buddha body (丈六之佛身 [zhang liu zhi fu shen]), endowed with the thirty-two marks (三十二相 [san shi er xiang]) and possessing various virtues, pertains to the Manifestation body (應身 [ying shen]) among the Three bodies (三身 [san shen]). This view arises from the discriminatory mind (差別心 [cha bie xin]) of ordinary sentient beings (凡夫 [fan fu]). If one departs from the discriminatory mind of ordinary sentient beings and contemplates with a non-discriminatory, equal mind, then all forms become utterly quiescent, and everything is nothing but the reality of True Suchness (真如實相 [zhen ru shi xiang]).

The Great Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra (大般若經 [da ban ruo jing]), Volume 574, states: "Mañjuśrī (曼殊室利 [man shu shi li]) then addressed the Buddha, saying: 'I contemplate the Tathagata as the very form of True Suchness, motionless and actionless (無動無作 [wu dong wu zuo]), without discrimination (無所分別 [wu suo fen bie])... (omitted) ...when the path of mind and speech is cut off (心言路絕 [xin yan lu jue]), contemplating the Tathagata with such aspects of True Suchness is called truly seeing the Buddha (真見佛 [zhen jian fu]).'"

The Avataṃsaka Sūtra (華嚴經 [hua yan jing]), Chapter on Ascending the Summit of Mount Sumeru (昇須彌山頂品 [sheng xu mi shan ding pin]), states: "Dharma-nature (法性 [fa xing]) is fundamentally empty and tranquil (空寂 [kong ji]), without grasping and without seeing (無取亦無見 [wu qu yi wu jian]). The emptiness of nature (性空 [xing kong]) is the Buddha, which cannot be conceived or measured (不可得思量 [bu ke de si liang])."

The Vajracchedikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra (金剛般若經 [jin gang ban ruo jing]) states: "The World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]) spoke in verse (偈 [ji]), saying: 'If one sees me by form (色 [se]), or seeks me by sound (音聲 [yin sheng]), that person practices a wrong path (邪道 [xie dao]) and cannot see the Tathagata.'"

法身觀—【術語】宗家所立之法身各異,其觀法亦不同,今言性宗之法身觀,往生要集中本引諸經,明觀佛之法身,以真如平等五相觀如來也。蓋丈六之佛身,具三十二相,所謂該種種之德者,為三身中應身之事,由凡夫之有差別心,作如是觀耳,若離凡夫之有差別心,自無差別平等之心觀之,則諸相盡寂滅,無不為真如實相。大般若經五百七十四曰:「曼殊室利前白佛言:我觀如來即真如相,無動無作,無所分別。(中略)心言路絕,以此等真如之相觀於如來,名真見佛。」華嚴經昇須彌山頂品曰:「法性本空寂,無取亦無見,性空即佛,不可得思量。」金剛般若經曰:「世尊說偈言:若以色見我,以音聲求我,是人行邪道,不能見如來。」

[shù yǔ] zōng jiā suǒ lì zhī fǎ shēn gè yì, qí guān fǎ yì bù tóng, jīn yán xìng zōng zhī fǎ shēn guān, wǎng shēng yào jí zhōng běn yǐn zhū jīng, míng guān fú zhī fǎ shēn, yǐ zhēn rú píng děng wǔ xiāng guān rú lái yě. gài zhàng liù zhī fú shēn, jù sān shí èr xiāng, suǒ wèi gāi zhǒng zhǒng zhī dé zhě, wèi sān shēn zhōng yīng shēn zhī shì, yóu fán fū zhī yǒu chà bié xīn, zuò rú shì guān ěr, ruò lí fán fū zhī yǒu chà bié xīn, zì wú chà bié píng děng zhī xīn guān zhī, zé zhū xiāng jǐn jì miè, wú bù wèi zhēn rú shí xiāng. dà bān ruò jīng wǔ bǎi qī shí sì yuē: “màn shū shì lì qián bái fú yán: wǒ guān rú lái jí zhēn rú xiāng, wú dòng wú zuò, wú suǒ fēn bié. (zhōng lüè) xīn yán lù jué, yǐ cǐ děng zhēn rú zhī xiāng guān yú rú lái, míng zhēn jiàn fú.” huá yán jīng shēng xū mí shān dǐng pǐn yuē: “fǎ xìng běn kōng jì, wú qǔ yì wú jiàn, xìng kōng jí fú, bù kě dé sī liàng.” jīn gāng bān ruò jīng yuē: “shì zūn shuō jì yán: ruò yǐ sè jiàn wǒ, yǐ yīn shēng qiú wǒ, shì rén xíng xié dào, bù néng jiàn rú lái.”

[shu yu] zong jia suo li zhi fa shen ge yi, qi guan fa yi bu tong, jin yan xing zong zhi fa shen guan, wang sheng yao ji zhong ben yin zhu jing, ming guan fu zhi fa shen, yi zhen ru ping deng wu xiang guan ru lai ye. gai zhang liu zhi fu shen, ju san shi er xiang, suo wei gai zhong zhong zhi de zhe, wei san shen zhong ying shen zhi shi, you fan fu zhi you cha bie xin, zuo ru shi guan er, ruo li fan fu zhi you cha bie xin, zi wu cha bie ping deng zhi xin guan zhi, ze zhu xiang jin ji mie, wu bu wei zhen ru shi xiang. da ban ruo jing wu bai qi shi si yue: "man shu shi li qian bai fu yan: wo guan ru lai ji zhen ru xiang, wu dong wu zuo, wu suo fen bie. (zhong lue) xin yan lu jue, yi ci deng zhen ru zhi xiang guan yu ru lai, ming zhen jian fu." hua yan jing sheng xu mi shan ding pin yue: "fa xing ben kong ji, wu qu yi wu jian, xing kong ji fu, bu ke de si liang." jin gang ban ruo jing yue: "shi zun shuo ji yan: ruo yi se jian wo, yi yin sheng qiu wo, shi ren xing xie dao, bu neng jian ru lai."
