Ethical busines represents the “main quality of a Jain layman”, according to the Vyavahārasuddhacaupaī by Samayasundara.—The Vyavahārasuddha-caupaī was composed in VS 1696 (= 1639 CE) in Ahmedabad, as indicated at the end.
