頞悉多 [e xi duo]—Asta — 【地名 [de ming]】(Place name) Asta, a 山名 [shan ming] (mountain name).
It is translated as 日沒 [ri mei] (sunset).
The 宗輪論述記 [zong lun lun shu ji] (Commentary on the Treatise on the Wheels of Sects) states: "In 梵 [fan] (Sanskrit), (Asta) means 沒 [mei] (setting/disappearing). 鄔陀延 [wu tuo yan] (Udayana), however, only means 出 [chu] (rising/appearing). In the West, when the sun is seen setting, it is called (Asta)."
