惡口 [e kou]—Abusive language (恶口 [e kou]) — [Term (术语 [shu yu])] Words that curse (骂詈 [ma li]) and annoy (恼人 [nao ren]) others. The Fa Jie Ci Di (法界次第 [fa jie ci di]), Volume One, states: "Inflicting abusive words upon others, causing them to suffer distress, is called abusive language (恶口 [e kou])." It is one of the Ten Evils (十恶 [shi e]). The Immeasurable Life Sūtra (无量寿经 [wu liang shou jing]), Lower Volume, states: "Divisive speech (两舌 [liang she]), abusive language (恶口 [e kou]), false and embellished speech (妄言绮语 [wang yan qi yu])." The Chapter on Never Disparaging in the Lotus Sūtra (法华经不轻品 [fa hua jing bu qing pin]) states: "If one has abusive language (恶口 [e kou]), curses (骂詈 [ma li]), and slanders (诽谤 [fei bang]), they will incur great karmic retribution." The Dasheng Yizhang (大乘义章 [da cheng yi zhang]), Volume Seven, states: "When speech (言辞 [yan ci]) is crude and vulgar (麤野 [cu ye]), it is regarded as evil. Since evil arises from the mouth, it is therefore called abusive language (恶口 [e kou])."
惡口—【術語】罵詈惱人之言。法界次第上之上曰:「惡言加彼,令他受惱,名為惡口。」十惡之一。無量壽經下曰:「兩舌惡口,妄言綺語。」法華經不輕品曰:「若有惡口罵詈誹謗,獲大罪報。」大乘義章七曰:「言辭麤野,目之為惡。惡從口生,故名惡口。」
