Dvikhaṇḍa (द्विखण्ड).—A type of sopāna, or, ‘staircase’ of a temple.—Dvikhaṇḍa-sopānas are generally provided for the mahāmaṇḍapas of the temples. They are provided on the two sides of the mahāmaṇḍapa. Two identical sopānas are built in opposite directions and they meet at the top at a common platform.
