Dvāravāsinī (द्वारवासिनी) (Cf. Dvāravāsin) refers to the “eight Goddesses that stand at the doors of the quarters”, according to the Manthānabhairavatantra, a vast sprawling work that belongs to a corpus of Tantric texts concerned with the worship of the goddess Kubjikā.—Accordingly, “One should worship them [i.e., the Goddesses of the seats] at each door (of the quarters). If they are worshipped they bestow accomplishments. If they are not worshipped they give rise to obstacles. They should be worshipped in the village, town, primary sacred seat, (sacred) field, crossroad, and places of accomplishment [i.e., siddhisthāna]. They certainly destroy obstacles. Worshipped and installed they give extensive accomplishment. One should worship the eight goddesses accompanied by the guardians of the field”.

Dvāravāsinī (द्वारवासिनी) is the name of Dūtī (i.e., messengers of Lord Vajrapāṇi) mentioned as attending the teachings in the 6th century Mañjuśrīmūlakalpa: one of the largest Kriyā Tantras devoted to Mañjuśrī (the Bodhisattva of wisdom) representing an encyclopedia of knowledge primarily concerned with ritualistic elements in Buddhism. The teachings in this text originate from Mañjuśrī and were taught to and by Buddha Śākyamuni in the presence of a large audience (including Dvāravāsinī).

Dvāravāsinī (द्वारवासिनी) refers to “those (Yoginīs) who are residing at the corners”, according to the 10th-century Ḍākārṇava-tantra: one of the last Tibetan Tantric scriptures belonging to the Buddhist Saṃvara tradition consisting of 51 chapters.—Accordingly: [while explaining the body circle (kāyacakra)]: “[...] The first Yoginī in that circle is the one [who] emerged in the beginning (Vārāhī)—the twelve [classes of Yoginīs] are to be discerned by her; [they] rotate in [the twelve circles representing] the pīṭha, upapīṭha, [and so on]. The other [Yoginīs] residing at the gates (dvāravāsinī) and corners [dvārakoṇādivāsinī] are [expressive of] the thirteenth Level. [Every Yoginī is] to be discerned with a name starting with ‘Vajra’ at the time of offering and praise. [This is] also the case of [the names of] the heroes. [...]”.
