dūdha (दूध).—n (dugdha S) Milk. 2 The milky sap of plants. 3 An emulsion of the cocoanut or other oily kernels or seeds. 4 The early white substance in the ear which grows and hardens into rice. 5 R A bubby. dudhācā That is on the breast, a suckling. dudhācī tāhana tākānēṃ ghālaviṇēṃ To content one's self with a minor acquisition under the failure of attempts at a great object. dudhāsa or lā tuṭaṇēṃ To fall off in yielding milk; and dudhāsa or lā phuṭaṇēṃ To begin to yield milk plentifully--a cow &c. dudhācā thēmba A drop of milk. As thēmba is appropriated to dūdha to express a small quantity, so is nakha to tūpa, pāṇī to tāka, dhāra to tēla, kavaḍī to dahīṃ. dūdha disaṇēṃ hōṭāṃ- vara Used contemptuously of a stripling or mere lad. dūdha nighaṇēṃ g. of s. 1) Dudha (दुध):——an allomorph of [dūdha] used as the first member in certain compounds; ~[muṃhā] suckling, still feeding on mother’s milk; an infant; a know-nothing; ~[haṃḍī] an earthen pot for imparting slow heat to milk.
