Sanskrit, also spelled संस्कृतम् (saṃskṛtam), is an ancient language of India commonly seen as the grandmother of the Indo-European language family (even English!). Closely allied with Prakrit and Pali, Sanskrit is more exhaustive in both grammar and terms and has the most extensive collection of literature in the world, greatly surpassing its sister-languages Greek and Latin.

滴滴涕 [dī dī tì] [di di ti]—
A strong contact insecticide (殺蟲劑 [sha chong ji]), it is colorless (無色 [wu se]), odorless (無臭 [wu chou]), water-insoluble (不溶於水 [bu rong yu shui]) crystals (結晶 [jie jing]). It is named from the transliteration (音譯 [yin yi]) of D.D.T., the abbreviation (縮寫 [suo xie]) for the chemical name (化學藥品名 [hua xue yao pin ming]) Dichloro-Diphenyl-Trichloroethane. Once widely used to eradicate pests (害蟲 [hai chong]) due to its low cost (廉價 [lian jia]), it has been banned from use (禁止使用 [jin zhi shi yong]) because it easily accumulates in animal bodies (動物體內 [dong wu ti nei]), posing a problem of residual toxicity (殘毒 [can du]).
