dhrupada (ध्रुपद).—n (S) A kind of song. 2 The introductory stanza of a song. It is distinct from the verses of the song, and is repeated after each of them as a burden or chorus. It has three divisions, astāī, antrā, ābhōga. dhra0 dharaṇēṃ with māgēṃ of o. To follow or join in second (in singing the dhru0.) Ex. harikīrttana karitā nitya || tukayāmāgēṃ dhru0 dharita ||.
