Source: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesA vihara on Sankheyyaka pabbata in Mahisavatthu. A monk, named Uttara, once lived there and was visited by Sakka (A.iv.162ff). The vihara was so named because it was surrounded by a dhava forest. AA.ii.739.
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
