Dhānyakahima (धान्यकहिम) is a medicinal formulation (of the hima type, ‘cold infusion’), according to the Ṣoḍaśāṅgahṛdayam (Ayurvedic medicinal work in Sanskrit). The cold infusion of Dhānyaka taken with sugar in the morning alleviates burning sensation, thirst and all sorts of the disorders of pitta.

The recipe should be prepared according to the Hima (‘cold infusion’) process. Using this Ayurvedic preparation means you have to let the herbs steep in cold water for at least one hour (usually a longer period is required than for the phāṇṭa, or ‘hot infusion’ preparation). You can also let the herbs stand overnight.
