Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarDhamekīrti (धमेकीर्ति).—A Jain scholar called by the name कीर्ति (kīrti) also, who was the author of धातुप्रत्ययपञ्जिक्रा (dhātupratyayapañjikrā) and रूपावतार (rūpāvatāra) a well-known treatise on roots; cf. बोपदेवमहाग्राहग्रस्तो वामनदिग्गजः । कीर्तेरेव प्रसङ्गेन माधवेन समुद्धृतः । (bopadevamahāgrāhagrasto vāmanadiggajaḥ | kīrtereva prasaṅgena mādhavena samuddhṛtaḥ |) He is believed to have been the first grammarian who arranged the sutras of Panini according to the subject matter.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
