Devīkavaca (देवीकवच) refers to one of the topics dealt with in the Devīmāhātmya (dealing with Hymns and Rituals), which is included in the collection of manuscripts at the ‘Vincenzo Joppi’ library, collected by Luigi Pio Tessitori during his visit to Rajasthan between 1914 and 1919.—The manuscript of the Devīmāhātmya contains the following material: [e.g., devīkavaca]. the main part of the Devīmāhātmya is made of three main episodes which are tales of the goddess’s divine exploits: Madhu and Kaiṭabha; Mahiṣāsura; Śumbha and Niśumbha. Then come the Gods’ praises, followed by prophecies of the goddess on her future intervention in the world, and an account of the merit gained by reciting the text. [...]
