dēṭha (देठ) [or देंठ, dēṇṭha].—m sometimes dēṭa m A pedicle or stem. 2 fig. Support, strength, ground, basis. Ex. tyānēṃ ghōḍīṃ ṭhēvilīṃ pālakhī ṭhēvilī hēṃ kaśācē dēṭhīṃ? dēṭha kaḷavaḷaṇēṃ-piḷaṇēṃ-phiraṇēṃ or dēṭhālā pīḷa paḍaṇēṃ- māyā yēṇēṃ g. of s. To yearn in one's bowels. dēṭhacā- tuṭaṇēṃ To break from or get away from one's family or stock. dēṭhīṃ ṭhēvaṇēṃ To put under the patronage of. dēṭhīṃ lāgaṇēṃ To get on the stalk, i. e. to obtain a commencement of growth or progress--a business. dēṭhīṃ lāvaṇēṃ To trace to its source, support, basis, ground. 2 To commit or assign to (a business or work).
