Dantoṣṭhya (दन्तोष्ठ्य, “labial-dental”) refers to one of the three combinations of the five places of articulation (uccāraṇa).—According to Indian linguistic tradition (viz., śikṣā, ‘phonetics’, vyakaraṇa, ‘grammar’, nirukta, etymology’ and chandas, ‘prosody’.), the places of articulation (passive) are classified as five. The combinations of these are, for example, dantoṣṭhya.
