Source: Sutta: The Pali Text Society's Pali-English DictionaryDantapoṇa refers to: tooth-cleaner, always combined with mukh’odaka water for rinsing the teeth Vin.III, 51; IV, 90, 233; J.IV, 69; Miln.15; SnA 272. The C. on Pārāj. II.4, 17, (Vin.III, 51) gives 2 kinds of dantapoṇa, viz. chinna & acchinna.
Note: dantapoṇa is a Pali compound consisting of the words danta and poṇa.
Pali is the language of the Tipiṭaka, which is the sacred canon of Theravāda Buddhism and contains much of the Buddha’s speech. Closeley related to Sanskrit, both languages are used interchangeably between religions.
