To cry loudly (大聲地哭 [da sheng de ku]). Refers to crying extremely intensely. From Chapter 9 of Romance of the Three Kingdoms (《三國演義 [san guo yan yi]》): "Dong Zhuo's (董卓 [dong zhuo]) corpse was exposed in the marketplace, when suddenly a person prostrated himself on his corpse and cried loudly." From Chapter 49 of Dream of the Red Chamber (《紅樓夢 [hong lou meng]》): "Enough, enough! Today the Reed Snow Hut (蘆雪庵 [lu xue an]) has suffered a calamity, utterly ruined by Girl Yun (雲丫頭 [yun ya tou]). I shall have a big cry for the Reed Snow Hut (蘆雪庵 [lu xue an])."
