大薩遮尼犍子 [da sa zhe ni jian zi]—Mahāsatya-nirgrantha - [Person's Name] Nirgrantha (尼犍 [ni jian]) is a general term for ascetic heterodox practitioners, translated as "free from bonds" or "unfettered." Satya (薩遮 [sa zhe]) is his name, translated as "being" (有 [you]) or "truth" (諦 [di]). Thus, the name means "Son of the Great Being/Truth, the Unfettered Heterodox." This person converted to Buddhism and realized the Great Way. For King Yaṇacitta of Ujjayini city, he expounded worldly and transcendent teachings. Subsequently, he and the king went together to the Buddha's abode to receive prophecies. Huìyuàn's "Sounds and Meanings" (Part II) states: "Satya (薩遮 [sa zhe]), here means 'being' (有 [you])." "Translation of Sanskrit" (Volume 9) states: "Satya (薩遮 [sa zhe]) means 'reality' (實 [shi]), also 'truth' (諦 [di])." Sanskrit: Mahāsatya-nirgrantha.
