打撒手 [dǎ sā shǒu] [da sa shou]—
To wash one's hands of it; to let go and ignore. Chapter 35 of Jin Ping Mei (《金瓶梅 [jin ping mei]》): "Yesterday, in the seventh month, the Jade Emperor Temple (玉皇廟 [yu huang miao]) held the Zhongyuan (中元 [zhong yuan]) ritual (醮 [jiao]). Including me, only three or four people came, and no one took out money; everyone just washed their hands of it (兒 [er])."
打撒手:放手不管。《金瓶梅》第三五回:「昨日七月內,玉皇廟打中元醮,連我只三四個人兒到,沒個人拏出錢來,都打撒手兒。」
dǎ sā shǒu: fàng shǒu bù guǎn. < jīn píng méi> dì sān wǔ huí: “zuó rì qī yuè nèi, yù huáng miào dǎ zhōng yuán jiào, lián wǒ zhǐ sān sì gè rén ér dào, méi gè rén ná chū qián lái, dōu dǎ sā shǒu ér.”
