White matter of the brain (大腦白質 [da nao bai zhi]). Located within the cerebral cortex (大腦皮質 [da nao pi zhi]), it is composed of nerve fibers (神經纖維 [shen jing xian wei]), lighter in color, and functions to connect information (聯絡訊息 [lian luo xun xi]) and transmit nerve impulses (傳遞神經衝動 [chuan di shen jing chong dong]).
