大理縣 [dà lǐ xiàn] [da li xian]—
County name. Located between the Diancang Mountains (点苍山 [dian cang shan]) and Erhai Lake (洱海 [er hai]) in Yunnan (云南 [yun nan]), it is a famous scenic area (名胜区 [ming sheng qu]) in western Yunnan (滇西 [dian xi]) and serves as a military (军事 [jun shi]) and political (政治 [zheng zhi]) hub (中枢 [zhong shu]) in western Yunnan (云南西部 [yun nan xi bu]). During the Han Dynasty (汉 [han]), Yeyu County (叶榆县 [ye yu xian]) was established here, and in the Eastern Han Dynasty (东汉 [dong han]), it was called 'Dieyu' (楪榆 [ye yu]). During the Tang Dynasty (唐 [tang]), Nanzhao (南诏 [nan zhao]) established its capital (都 [dou]) here. In the Song (宋 [song]) and Yuan (元 [yuan]) dynasties, it was the Dali Kingdom (大理国 [da li guo]). In the Ming Dynasty (明 [ming]), it was named 'Taihe County' (太和县 [tai he xian]), and in the early years of the Republic of China (民国 [min guo]), its name was changed to 'Dali County' (大理县 [da li xian]).
大理縣：縣名。位於雲南點蒼山、洱海之間，為滇西名勝區，並為雲南西部軍事及政治上的中樞。漢置葉榆縣，東漢稱「楪榆」。唐時南詔都此，宋、元時為大理國，明稱「太和縣」，民國初年改稱「大理縣」。
