culata (चुलत).—a A word expressive of collateral relation. Used as a prefix with the terms of kindred; as culataājā Grandfather's brother; culataājī Grandfather's wife; culataculatā Male cousin of one's paternal uncle; culatabahīṇa Daughter of one's paternal uncle; culatabhāū Son of one's paternal uncle; culatamāmā Male cousin of one's maternal uncle. Note. culata expresses collateral relation one degree removed; reduplicated, as culataculata, it may signify any lateral remove howsoever distant. culataculatabhāū is the son of the paternal uncle of one's father.
