Vedanta (school of philosophy)
Cinmūrta (चिन्मूर्त) refers to “being free from preoccupation with ‘me’”, according to the Aṣṭāvakragītā (5th century BC), an ancient text on spirituality dealing with Advaita-Vedānta topics.—Accordingly, [as Aṣṭavakra says to Janaka]: “[...] Your nature is the consciousness (cinmūrta), in which the whole world wells up, like waves in the sea. That is what you are, without any doubt, so be free of disturbance [tattvameva na sandehaścinmūrte vijvaro bhava]. Have faith, my son, have faith. Don't let yourself be deluded in this, sir. You are yourself the Lord, whose property is knowledge, and are beyond natural causation. [...]”.

Vedanta (वेदान्त, vedānta) refers to a school of orthodox Hindu philosophy (astika), drawing its subject-matter from the Upanishads. There are a number of sub-schools of Vedanta, however all of them expound on the basic teaching of the ultimate reality (brahman) and liberation (moksha) of the individual soul (atman).
