Ciḍiyā (चिडिया):—(nf) a bird; shuttlecock (in the game of Badminton); the club (in a suite of cards); ~[khānā/ghara] a zoo; an aviary; —[kā dūdha] a non-existent commodity; an impossibility; —[uḍa jānā] the bird to fly off, the victim to get out of reach; —[kā pūta bhī na honā] none at all to be present; —[phaṃsānā] to entrap a bird (a beauty or a man of wealth); —[marī rājā ko svāda na āyā] it may be death to one and not even fun to another; —[hātha se nikala jānā] see —[uḍa jānā; ciḍiyoṃ kī mauṃta gaṃvāroṃ kī haṃsī] it may be fun to you but it is death to frogs.
