Source: What is India: Annual Report on Indian Epigraphy (1945-1952)Chikkaṅgi is an archaeologically important site situated in Hangal-taluk (Dharwar district, Bombay), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Chikkaṅgi there is a hero stone set up near Śiva temple which States that Chavaṭṭoyya died and his son Chāmuṇḍa set up the memorial stone when Eregāri was holding the office of Nāl-gāmuṇḍu and Erechaṭṭa was holding the office of Ūr gāmuṇḍu.
This inscriptions belongs to king Tailapa of the Western Chālukya dynasty and is dated Śaka 903.
