Source: academia.edu: Minor Chiefs and "Hero" in Ancient TamilakamCēral is a name related to the historical geography and rulers of ancient Tamil Nadu, occuring in Sangam literature such as the Akanāṉūṟu and the Puṟanāṉūṟu.—Notes: Cēralātaṉ 55, 127 marked the vil “bow” emblem on the Himālayas, 347; usually named Cēraṉ or Cērar, John Marr (1985) says the designation is Cēral or Cēralātan confirmed by the cited poems (Puṟam. 17, 20, 53, 229, VIS 312).
