cavaṇēṃ (चवणें).—v i (Tsh. cava or cyavana S) To become loose, rakish, dissolute. 2 To turn mad, foolish, idiot like.

cāvaṇēṃ (चावणें).—v c (carvaṇa S) To chew. 2 To bite. 3 fig. To peculate: also to take bribes or douceurs. cāvūna ghālaṇēṃ To enjoin or instruct by much explanation and reiteration. cāvūna cikaṭa karaṇēṃ (To make, by chewing, sticky and clammy that which, if suffered to dissolve of itself, will dissolve readily.) To outwit one's self; to overshoot the mark; to be fain to accept in the end (after obstinate haggling, chaffering, stickling) harder terms or inferior things than were offered at first. 2 To dwell or harp upon tediously. cāvūna civūna kharacaṇēṃ To spend or use stintingly. cāvūna civūna saṃsāra karaṇēṃ-ghara cālaviṇēṃ &c.
