Source: Wisdom Library: Āyurveda and botanyCatuṣpattrī (चतुष्पत्त्री) is another name for Suniṣaṇṇaka, which is a Sanskrit word referring to Marsilea quadrifolia and Marsilea minuta (white goose), both from the Marsileaceae family. Certain plant parts of Suniṣaṇṇaka are eaten as a vegetable (śāka), according to Caraka in his Carakasaṃhitā sūtrasthāna (chapter 27), a classical Ayurvedic work. It can also be spelled as Catuṣpatrī, which is listed in the Suśrutasaṃhitā-sūtrasthāna 20.5.
