Carv (चर्व्).—1 P., 1 U. (carvati, carvayati-te, carvita)

1) To chew, chop, eat, browse, bit; लाङ्गूलं गाढतरं चर्वितुमारब्धवान् (lāṅgūlaṃ gāḍhataraṃ carvitumārabdhavān) Pañcatantra (Bombay) 4; यस्यैतच्च न कुक्कुरैरहरहर्जङ्घान्तरं चर्व्यते (yasyaitacca na kukkurairaharaharjaṅghāntaraṃ carvyate) Mṛcchakaṭika 2.11.

2) To suck up.
