Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarCārtha (चार्थ).—The meaning of the indeclinable च (ca) to convey which, as existing in different individuals, the dvandva compound is prescribed.Out of the four senses possessed by the inde clinable च (ca), the Dvandva compound is prescribed in two senses viz.इतरेतरयोग (itaretarayoga) and समाहार (samāhāra) out of the four समुच्चय, अन्वाचय, इतरेतरयोग (samuccaya, anvācaya, itaretarayoga) and समाहारः (samāhāraḥ) cf. कः पुनश्चेन कृतोर्थः समुच्चयो-न्वाचय इतरेतरयोगः समाहार इति (kaḥ punaścena kṛtorthaḥ samuccayo-nvācaya itaretarayogaḥ samāhāra iti) M. Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
