Calatā (चलता) refers to the “state of motion” (as opposed to Niścalatā—“state of stillness”), according to the Mānasollāsa verse 9.30-31.—Accordingly, while discussing the practice of meditation is called Samādhi: “The inactivity of the mind through [the practice of] meditation is called Samādhi. Samādhi without mind is free from all thought. When the mind goes to the state of stillness (niścalatā), the breath becomes still. By means of stillness of the mind, [the Yogin] should practise [this] yoga, [which is endowed] with meditation”.
