Cailoṇḍūka (चैलोण्डूक).—(or °ḍuka ? m. or nt.; compare Sanskrit caila, cela, and uṇḍuka; = Pali celaṇḍuka, or °ḍaka, which in Majjhimanikāya (Pali) i.150.17 clearly means turban, with commentary ii.158.28 ff., not loincloth with [Pali Text Society’s Pali-English Dictionary]; celoṇḍukaḥ, turban (śiroveṣṭe), also [Page234-a+ 33] Sanskrit Lex., Trik. 2.6.35, Bombay ed. of 1889; [Boehtlingk and Roth] cites coloṇḍuka from old ed., clearly an error), turban: (sacet tvaṃ…dharmodgataṃ bodhisattvaṃ…) cailoṇḍūkam (v.l. cailamaṇḍukam) iva śirasā parikarṣeḥ Aṣṭasāhasrikā-prajñāpāramitā 493.17, if you should carry around…on your head like a turban.
