cācapaṇēṃ (चाचपणें).—v i To grope; to poke about; to feel one's way. 2 fig. To speak with hesitation; to be feeling one's way; to be beating about (in answering a question) for the anguis in herbâ. Gen. conjoined with bōlaṇēṃ, as cācapaḍata bōlaṇēṃ. cācapaḍata or cācapata The participle is used as ad with many verbs in the sense of Pokingly, gropingly, dawdlingly, dubiously.

cācapaṇēṃ (चाचपणें) [or चांचपणें, cāñcapaṇēṃ].—v c To feel with the hand; to press and squeeze in order to discover (a paining or injured limb &c.); to feel generally: also to feel for (as for one thing amongst others). Ex. cimaṇī āṇi yamunā hyānīṃ āpalyā piśavyā cācapalyā. 2 fig. To touch (a douceur or bribe).
