Buxar in Gaya district of Bihar is important for revealing the ceramics of early centuries of Christina era. Excavation revealed four cultural periods, of which period III belongs to the Kushan. From this level, Kushan pottery like sprinklers and terracotta human figurines - characterized by “typical Kushan head dresses” have been discovered (IAR: 1965-66). A large number of Kushan coins in a hoard were also discovered (Chattopadhyay, 1967)
