部主 [bu zhu]—(bù zhǔ) — [Miscellaneous Terminology] Each of the twenty sects of Hinayana (小乘 [xiao cheng]) refers to its founder as a (bù zhǔ). In the three sections of the Mantra (真言 [zhen yan]) Garbhadhatu Mandala (胎藏界 [tai cang jie]), each establishes a (bù zhǔ); in the five sections of the Vajradhatu Mandala (金剛界 [jin gang jie]), each has a (bù zhǔ). The term (bù zhǔ) has two meanings: one is the meaning of a ruler of a country (国主 [guo zhu]), and the other is the meaning of wielding authority (执权 [zhi quan]). In the study of Esoteric Yoga (秘密瑜伽 [mi mi yu jia]), it is stated: "Regarding (bù zhǔ), there are two explanations here: one is like a 国主 [guo zhu] (guó zhǔ), which is the meaning in the Great Commentary (大疏 [da shu]). The other is like wielding authority (执权 [zhi quan]), which is the meaning of managing/governing (管领 [guan ling]), hence the name 'lord'. This is the meaning in the 'Essentials of Various Sections' (诸部要目 [zhu bu yao mu])."
