Vyakarana (Sanskrit grammar)
Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarBṛhatsaṃjñā (बृहत्संज्ञा).—The same as महत्संज्ञा (mahatsaṃjñā) or महती संज्ञा (mahatī saṃjñā); a bigger terminology as contrasted with लघुसंज्ञा (laghusaṃjñā) brief terminology such as टि, घु, भ (ṭi, ghu, bha) etc. for which (latter) Panini is very particular. The bigger terms such as सर्वनाम, आत्मनेपद, परस्मैपद (sarvanāma, ātmanepada, parasmaipada) and others are evidently borrowed by Panini from the ancient grammarians who lived before him.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
