Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationBrahmāṇḍādhipati (ब्रह्माण्डाधिपति) refers to “suzerainty of the universe”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.4.5 (“Kārttikeya is crowned”).—Accordingly, after the Gods spoke to Śiva: “[...] The intelligent Viṣṇu performed the auspicious ceremony of crowning Kārttikeya in the company of the gods; [...] He bedecked Kārttikeya in every manner and dressed him gorgeously. He went through the ceremony in brief and made everyone celebrate the event with pleasure. Viṣṇu joyously gave him the suzerainty of the universe (brahmāṇḍādhipati-tva). He applied the Tilaka mark and worshipped him along with the gods. [...]”.
