Source: academia.edu: A Study and Translation of the GaganagañjaparipṛcchāBodhicittabīja (बोधिचित्तबीज) refers to “(the potential of) the thought of awakening”, according to the Gaganagañjaparipṛcchā: the eighth chapter of the Mahāsaṃnipāta (a collection of Mahāyāna Buddhist Sūtras).—Accordingly, “How then, son of good family, does the merit of Bodhisattvas become like the expanse of the sky? The qualities of the Buddha are just like the expanse of the sky, and their potential, the thought of awakening (bodhicittabīja), is also like the expanse of the sky. Since, son of good family, although he accumulates the merit of Bodhisattva, he never forgets the thought of awakening. Collecting the roots of good, he transforms those accumulations into omniscience, and thus establish them in being like the immeasurable expanse of the sky.
