波那娑 [bo na suo]—菠那娑 [bo na suo] (Bo na suo) — [Plant] Paṇasa, also known as 半橠娑 [ban nuo suo] (Ban luo suo) or 半娜娑 [ban na suo] (Ban na suo). It is the name of a fruit. Xuanying Yinyi (玄應音義 [xuan ying yin yi]) Volume 24 states: "半橠娑 [ban nuo suo] (Ban luo suo) is pronounced 'nai ke qie' (乃可切 [nai ke qie]). Formerly called 菠那娑 [bo na suo] (Bo na suo), the fruit's shape is like a winter melon (冬瓜 [dong gua]), and its taste is very sweet." Huilin Yinyi (慧琳音義 [hui lin yin yi]) Volume 4 states: "The 半娜娑 [ban na suo] (Ban na suo) fruit is not found in this country [China]." (Jackfruit).
