1) Bindusthāna (बिन्दुस्थान) refers to the “place of the point”, according to the Ṭīkā (commentary) on the Manthānabhairavatantra, a vast sprawling work that belongs to a corpus of Tantric texts concerned with the worship of the goddess Kubjikā.—[...] The stages in the ascent to the End of the Twelve [i.e., dvādaśānta] are understood as phases of the utterance of the syllable OṂ. The texts present the stages of the ascent up to the End of the Sixteen [i.e., ṣoḍaśānta] in a number of ways. The first is found in the Ṭīkā. There we are told that there are five measures, each corresponding to a type of Self (ātman) that pervades a number of finger-breadths of the body as follows: [3) Siddhātman—Accomplished Self: extends from the toes to the Place of the Point (bindusthāna) between the eyebrows for 84 fingers, ...]. [...]. All thirty-six metaphysical Principles are perceived along with the pervasion of the first five.

2) Bindusthāna (बिन्दुस्थान) or “forehead” is sometimes associated with Ṣaṣṭhānanda—one of the Sixteen Siddhas according to the Manthānabhairavatantra.—These sixteen spiritual teachers represent the disciples of the Nine Nāthas who propagated the Western Transmission noted in the Kubjikā Tantras.—Various texts record the locations of the sixteen Siddhas within the body (called ‘doors’). For example, the Kulakaulinīmata mentions the Navel, whereas the Ṭīkā mentions the Forehead (bindusthāna) and the Kumārikākhaṇḍa mentions Blood as the location of Ṣaṣṭhānanda.

Bindusthāna (बिन्दुस्थान) refers to the “place of Bindu”, according to the Tantrasadbhāva (verse 6.218): an important Trika Tantra and a major authority for Kashmiri Trika Śaivites.—Accordingly, “For those who know the Self, Prayāga should be understood as located in the [cakra of the] navel, Varuṇā [i.e. Vārāṇasī] in the heart region, Kolagiri in the throat, Bhīmanāda in the palate, Jayantī in the place of Bindu (bindusthāna), Caritra in [the plexus] called Nāda, and Ekāmraka in [the plexus of] Śakti. The eighth, Koṭivarṣa, is likewise said to be in the Mouth of the Guru. These are the places I have declared to be present in the person internally”.

Tibetan Buddhism (Vajrayana or tantric Buddhism)

Bindusthāna (बिन्दुस्थान) refers to the “seats of Bindus”, according to the 10th-century Ḍākārṇava-tantra: one of the last Tibetan Tantric scriptures belonging to the Buddhist Saṃvara tradition consisting of 51 chapters.—Accordingly: “[...] One thousand bindus are in the prongs, [which run] upward from the navel area. He should meditate on the bindus in the ten prongs in sequence. By smoke and others, he should make move the 100 [bindus] in the seats of Bindus (bindusthāna). From that, however subtle the thing might be, it is not a [discriminated] object of sense for the Awakened Ones. He [becomes] completely awakened, [which is] the mahāmudrā or Great Seal, through the meditation on the adamantine vital airs [...]”.
