Bhavyakīrti (भव्यकीर्ति) is the author of the Śūramanojñā commentary on the Cakrasaṃvara-tantra.—In his Śūramanojñā commentary on the Cakrasaṃvara (D 1405), Bhavyakīrti mentions Indrabhūti and quotes his teachings five times (D 1405, 5 v 7–6 r 2, 8 v 1–v 3, 10 r 4, 14 r 7, and 14 v 1–v 2).

Bhavyakīrti (भव्यकीर्ति) is the name of a commentator on the Laghuśaṃvara.—In chapter 38 of his Rgya gar chos ’byung (“History of Buddhism in India”), Tāranātha includes several commentators on the Laghuśaṃvara [e.g., Bhavyakīrti], among ten persons whom he holds to have occupied the office of chief Vajrācārya at Vikramaśīla in rapid unbroken succession.—At the beginning of the translation the name of Bhavyakīrti’s commentary is said to be Śūramanojñā in Sanskrit and dpa’ bo’i yid du ’ong in Tibetan, i.e. ‘pleasing to heroes’. But the Sanskrit titles given in the Tenjur are so often inaccurate that we can conclude that they do not reach us from the Sanskrit works themselves but are reconstructions from the Tibetan added by the compilers of the Tenjur.
