Bhāvabhakti (भावभक्ति) refers to “deep heartfelt devotion”, according to the Manthānabhairavatantra, a vast sprawling work that belongs to a corpus of Tantric texts concerned with the worship of the goddess Kubjikā.—Misplaced devotion is a defect. The teachings should not be given to one who is devoted to other deities. But one who is pure by virtue of his deep, heartfelt devotion (bhāvabhakti) for the goddess and her consort is detached from the world (virakta) and hence fit to receive the teaching. Caste or social status is no consideration—only devotion. [...]

bhāvabhakti (भावभक्ति).—f (S) pop. bhāvabhagata f Worship from love, faith, heartiness, or disinterestedness; homage of the heart and spirit: as disting. from bhayabhakti Worship from fear. 2 Engagedness of heart and affection in, upon, towards; enthusiastic fondness for. 3 (bhāva Market-rate, bhakti here used as a form of reduplication, to confer a comprehensive power or air.) Market-accounts, familiar tidings or news, common gup. Ex. kāyahō āpaṇa bājārāntūna ā- lānta bhāvabhakti kaśī kāya? 4 bhāvabhagata further means Season of prevailing or flourishing, of prospering or thriving (of men, fruits, affairs). Ex. pandharā divasa āmbyāñcī bhāvabhagata āhēṃ; sāvakārācī bhāva- bhagata jhālī.
