Bhāskarāgra (भास्कराग्र) refers to the “amplitude of the Sun”, according to verse 20 of the Lagnaprakaraṇa (lit. “treatise for the computation of the ascendant), an astronomical work in eight chapters dealing with the determination of the ascendant (udayalagna or orient ecliptic point).—Accordingly, “[...] Here, one should divide either the product of [the Rsine of] the amplitude of the Sun (bhāskarāgra) and the Rsine of the latitude, or of the Rsine [of the Sun’s longitude] and the last earth-sine, by the day-radius. The quotient indeed would be the Rsine of the ascensional difference”.
