Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationBhaktānurañjana (भक्तानुरञ्जन) refers to “one who is the conciliator of the devotees ”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.3.13 (“Śiva-Pārvatī dialogue”).—Accordingly, after Śiva spoke to Pārvatī: “Having spoken to Pārvatī thus, the lord, the conciliator [i.e., bhaktānurañjana-kara] and the blesser of the devotees spoke to the mountain thus”.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
