bhadēṃ (भदें) [or भंदें, bhandēṃ].—n A half-pitcher or a shard. 2 The half-pitcher or shard in which the gōsāvī, the gōndha- ḷī &c. bound by a vow, put fire, and which they hold on their hand or hands, whilst dancing wildly about. v ghē. 3 The word is used freely as a term of abuse for a pot or vessel which is bent, dinted, battered; for an article of furniture which is rickety or broken; for a drum or a throat or voice that gives a cracked or a harsh sound; for a ruined or marred speculation or business. tōṇḍācēṃ bhadēṃ karaṇēṃ (To make a fire-shard of one's mouth.) To be violently abusive. bhadēṃ ghēṇēṃ To carry with many ceremonies and formalities a bhadēṃ around the disputed boundary of a field or village.
