報恩 [bao en]—Repaying Kindness — [Term] In the world, there are four kinds of kindnesses (四恩 [si en]). It refers to the act of dedicating one's wholehearted effort to repay them. There is also a Sutra on Repaying Kindness (經 [jing]).

報恩—【術語】世有四恩,為報酬之而盡心致力也。有報恩經。

[shù yǔ] shì yǒu sì ēn, wèi bào chóu zhī ér jǐn xīn zhì lì yě. yǒu bào ēn jīng.

[shu yu] shi you si en, wei bao chou zhi er jin xin zhi li ye. you bao en jing.

報恩 [bào ēn] [bao en]—
To repay a kindness or favor (報答恩惠 [bao da en hui]). From Selections of Refined Literature (文選 [wen xuan]), Li Ling's (李陵 [li ling]) "Letter in Reply to Su Wu" (答蘇武書 [da su wu shu]): "Therefore, as stated in my previous letter, I wish to repay the kindness of the ruler (國主 [guo zhu])." From Chapter Six of The Travels of Lao Can, Part Two (《老殘遊記二編 [lao can you ji er bian]》): "If you cultivate yourself (修行 [xiu xing]) and achieve enlightenment (成道 [cheng dao]), and at that time I encounter the three calamities and eight misfortunes (三災八難 [san zai ba nan]), and you see it from heaven (天上 [tian shang]), you must quickly fly (飛忙 [fei mang]) down to rescue (搭救 [da jiu]) me; that would be true repayment of kindness (真 [zhen])!"

報恩:報答恩惠。文選.李陵〈答蘇武書〉:「故欲如前書之言,報恩於國主也。」《老殘遊記二編》第六回:「倘若修行成道,那時我有三災八難,在你天上看見了,必定飛忙來搭救我,那才是真報恩呢!」

bào ēn: bào dá ēn huì. wén xuǎn. lǐ líng 〈dá sū wǔ shū〉: “gù yù rú qián shū zhī yán, bào ēn yú guó zhǔ yě.” < lǎo cán yóu jì èr biān> dì liù huí: “tǎng ruò xiū xíng chéng dào, nà shí wǒ yǒu sān zāi bā nán, zài nǐ tiān shàng kàn jiàn le, bì dìng fēi máng lái dā jiù wǒ, nà cái shì zhēn bào ēn ne! ”

bao en: bao da en hui. wen xuan. li ling : "gu yu ru qian shu zhi yan, bao en yu guo zhu ye." < lao can you ji er bian> di liu hui: "tang ruo xiu xing cheng dao, na shi wo you san zai ba nan, zai ni tian shang kan jian le, bi ding fei mang lai da jiu wo, na cai shi zhen bao en ne! "
