般若湯 [ban ruo tang]—(Bōrě Tāng) — [Miscellaneous name] A euphemism for wine in Chan/Zen monasteries (禪林 [chan lin]). Dongpo Zhilin (東坡志林 [dong po zhi lin]) states: 'Monks refer to wine as Prajna Soup, fish as Water Shuttle Flower (水梭花 [shui suo hua]), and chicken as Drill-Fence Vegetable (鑽籬菜 [zuan li cai]).'

Ultimately, it is of no benefit whatsoever; it is merely self-deception."
