Source: archive.org: A History Of Indian Civilization Vol. 1Bālaputradeva (बालपुत्रदेव).—The Emperor Bālaputradeva of the Śailendra dynasty sent to Devapāla of Bengal (810-850) an embassy with the request to grant five villages to endow a monastery he had built at Nālandā. For several centuries the art andtemple architecture of Sumatra and Java were profoundly influenced by the Pala art of Bengal.
