Balājīrakādi refers to a medicinal recipe mentioned in the Kaṣāyakhaṇḍa (verse 1.68) of the 15th-century Yogasārasaṅgraha (Yogasara-saṅgraha) by Vāsudeva: an unpublished Keralite work representing an Ayurvedic compendium of medicinal recipes. The Kaṣāyakhaṇḍa [mentioning balājīrakādi] deals with decoctions (kaṣāya) and gruels (peyas) administered to patients suffering from a variety of conditions (viz., alcoholism, vomiting, syncope, burning sensations, etc.).
Āyurveda (आयुर्वेद, ayurveda) is a branch of Indian science dealing with medicine, herbalism, taxology, anatomy, surgery, alchemy and related topics. Traditional practice of Āyurveda in ancient India dates back to at least the first millenium BC. Literature is commonly written in Sanskrit using various poetic metres.
